Who We Are and What We Do

PRW Laboratories is a state of the art facility that provides comprehensive services in anatomic pathology, serving clinical physicians seeking primary diagnostic analysis as well as pathologists in need of expert consultations. Founded by 5 senior pathologists, some with over 30 years of experience, PRW opened its doors in 2011 as Charlottesville Virginia’s first independent dermatopathology & surgical pathology laboratory.

Seven physicians comprise PRW’s expert staff. Dr. David Rowe, Medical Director and one of the founders, has been a successful practitioner in the community since 2002. PRW’s remaining founders are also university-based academics, who serve as subspecialty trained consultants, allowing PRW to provide astute case interpretations in a wide range of subjects including: breast pathology, cytopathology, dermatopathology, head & neck pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, gynecological pathology, hematopathology, liver pathology, neuropathology, pediatric pathology, renal pathology, soft tissue & bone pathology, urological pathology, and veterinary pathology.

PRW is dedicated to the accurate and timely completion of cases with open thorough communication between pathologist and clinician for the ultimate goal of providing the highest standard of patient care.
All at PRW, physicians and staff alike, value our relationships with clients and are committed to providing individualized and “concierge-level” customer services to them and to the patients for whom they care.

To advance the practice and knowledge of pathology and diagnostic medicine, PRW contributes to the education of residents and fellows from universities by welcoming individuals enrolled in pathology and dermatology training programs to participate in the evaluation of the cases we receive for analysis.

Collectively, PRW Laboratories’ pathologists hold medical licensure in nine states including AL, DC, OH, MN, MO, NC, NY, VA, and WV.
