STACEY E. MILLS, M.D.

Dr. Stacey Mills was born in Hampton, Virginia in 1951. He attended the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA, receiving a B.S. in 1973. Mills matriculated to the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, VA, and was awarded his M.D. in 1977. Thereafter, he completed residency training in anatomic pathology and a fellowship in surgical pathology at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

Dr. Mills has broad expertise in anatomic pathology, but his special interests include diseases of the breast, head & neck, bones, gynecological tract, and urogenital system.

He has published more than 225 peer-reviewed papers, 27 book chapters, and 21 books. Mills is the current Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Surgical Pathology, Sternberg’s Diagnostic Surgical Pathology (textbook), Histology for Pathologists (textbook), Practical Reviews in Pathology, and the Pathology Network. He was also Editor-in-Chief of Modern Pathology from 1995 to 2000, and has memberships on the editorial boards of 8 other pathology journals.

Dr. Mills is a member of the United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology, American Society for Clinical Pathology, Arthur Purdy Stout Society of Surgical Pathologists, International Society of Gynecological Pathologists, and Association of Directors of Anatomic & Surgical Pathology. He has lectured internationally on topics in head & neck pathology and diseases of the urogenital tract.

Mills is licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina, West Virginia, and Virginia.
